A tomte’s work is never done. Neither is ours.
Here’s what we’re building next, in roughly the order we plan to build it. There are no dates, because good things take as long as they take, and we’d rather ship it right than ship it Tuesday.
Next: Cook Now
You know the moment. It’s 6 pm, the plan has gone out the window, and you’re staring into the fridge hoping it will make a suggestion.
Cook Now will. It looks at what’s actually in your fridge, freezer and pantry and shows you the meals you can make right now, with no shopping trip. It’s the answer to “what can I cook with what I’ve got?”, and it’s the feature I want most.
Next: Eat Now
Sometimes you don’t want to cook. You just want to eat. Eat Now will show you what’s ready to go right now: leftovers, quick meals, snacks, fruit or something from the freezer that just needs the microwave. No rummaging required.
Then: a food diary
A simple record of what the household actually ate, so the tomte gets even better at planning, and so you can finally settle the argument about how many times you’ve had tacos this month. (It’s a household log, not a nutrition tracker.)
Then: step-by-step cooking
Clear, one-step-at-a-time instructions while you cook, so you’re not scrolling past someone’s life story with floury hands.
Then: more calendar accounts
Right now you can connect one Google, one iCloud and one Microsoft 365 account. Soon you’ll be able to connect more than one from the same provider, such as a work and a personal Google calendar.
Later: household budgeting
Every receipt you snap already saves what you paid. Later, My Tomte will turn that into a clear view of what the household spends on food, and where it could spend less.
Later: finding recipes by asking
A new Smart Action: “A vegetarian lasagne that freezes well”, and the tomte finds and builds it for you.
Later: iPhone and Android apps
My Tomte already works in any browser and sits happily on your home screen. Native apps will make it feel even more at home on your phone.
