Hello! I’m Danny, and together with my wife Rowena, I make My Tomte.
Today, after a very long time of “just one more feature”, it’s ready for your household too.
Why we built it
Our house has a wild toddler called Leo, two full-time jobs, packed social calendars and far too many hobbies. Planning meals had become one of those jobs that never quite gets done: it just gets survived, every night, at 5 pm.
Rowena, who is a head of operations and a genuine Excel whiz, fixed it first with a spreadsheet. It was big, it was complex, and it mostly… kind of… worked. I saw it and couldn’t stop thinking about how much better it could be. So I built her a tomte.

What My Tomte does
My Tomte is a family meal planner and organiser app for Australian households. In one place, it:
- Plans your meals in one tap: breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert, for everyone, up to two weeks ahead
- Follows everyone’s rules: allergies, dietary choices and nutrition targets, person by person (it’s a guide for your household, so always check the labels)
- Writes the shopping list: everything the plan needs, minus what’s already in your fridge, freezer and pantry, in pack sizes you can actually buy
- Keeps track of the kitchen: snap a receipt and the shopping unpacks itself (on screen, sadly)
- Brings the family calendar together: Google, iCloud and Microsoft 365, so the plan knows who’s home for dinner
- Gets the household pitching in: household tasks, reward tokens for the kids and a notes board
And with Smart Actions, you can just ask: “Something quick with chicken on Tuesday, nothing spicy for the kids.”

We’re Australian, and so is My Tomte. Dates are DD/MM, measurements are metric, prices are in AUD, and yes, morning tea is a meal. Your household’s data lives in Australia, with a backup copy in Singapore, and we never sell it. Ever.

- Solo & Couple: $11.99 a year, for up to 2 people
- Family: $19.99 a year, for up to 6 people (less than $2 a month, billed annually)
- Premium: $79.99 a year, for up to 12 people and serious planners
No $1,000 screen required. It runs on the phone, tablet or computer you already have.
Why “Happy Dance”?
My Tomte is made by our little company, Happy Dance Project. The name comes from Leo: when he likes his dinner, he does a happy dance, a little wiggle in his booster seat that tells you everything you need to know.
That’s the whole goal, really. More happy dances at more dinner tables.
