Smart Actions are My Tomte’s AI features. You type what you want in plain words, and the tomte rearranges the week to match. The only tricky part is knowing what to ask.
Here are ten requests we use in our own kitchen.
For busy weeks
- “Something quick on Tuesday and Thursday, we’re out late.” Short cooking times on the nights that need them.
- “Use up the pumpkin and spinach before Friday.” The half-used veg gets a job before it becomes compost.
- “Make Monday’s dinner big enough for Tuesday’s lunches.” Cook once, eat twice.
For the family
- “Nothing spicy for the kids this week.”
- “Leo’s had pasta three nights in a row. Mix it up.” (Leo disagrees with this one.)
- “Include one new recipe, and keep the rest to our favourites.” The easiest way to grow the rotation without a revolt.
For the budget
- “Plan the week around what’s already in the freezer.”
- “Two vegetarian dinners this week.”
For fun
- “A roast on Sunday, and turn the leftovers into two more meals.”
- “Something that feels like a treat on Friday.” Pizza. It’s always pizza. But now the tomte agrees.
Smart Actions also read things
- Photo to recipe: snap a cookbook page, a magazine clipping or a PDF, and it becomes a recipe in My Tomte.
- Receipt reading: snap your shopping receipt, and your fridge, freezer and pantry update, prices included.
A few things to know
- Every request still follows each person’s dietary rules. Asking nicely doesn’t get around an allergy. And because it’s a guide, not advice, still check ingredients and allergen labels yourself.
- Each request uses one Smart Action. Every plan includes some each month; unused ones carry over for a month.
- Everyday features never use one. Planning the week, swapping meals and shopping lists are always free to use.
